Rare Rolled Collar Lip Two Pound Marmalade-Reserved-SOLD

(No reviews yet) Write a Review

Very rare antique two pound collar lip Keiller marmalade.

Circa 1900

The style of this pot is rare. Most are cylindrical in shape, this lip has what is called

a collar.

"The story from research goes that marmalade was invented in 1700, when a storm-damaged Spanish ship, carrying Seville oranges, sought refuge in Dundee harbour. The cargo was sold off cheaply to James Keiller, a down-on-his-luck local merchant, whose wife turned it into a preserve." (google search)
