MIRROR MIRROR ...

There are days when I feel like a doctor.
One of my clients ( who happens to be a shopkeeper)
hands me 5-10 projects a week, and usually adds the tag line ...
"see if you can fix this" ...

okay, right, how?
I think not!

yes, you're seeing this right ... a frame missing about 50% of it's carved molding.

And you want me to fix that?
I think not ...

Each week we pull together 3-5 old frames, touch them up with
paint
stain
 and gold leaf ...
put glorious pieces of art in them.
They sell instantly.

BUT
we're talking broken, missing and downright ugly ...

and you're telling me to "do something with it" ...

that leaves me wide open doesn't it?

as in pitch it ...

Not so much.
I took a little snooze and woke up with the remedy right on the tips of my fingers.

tattered shreds of
old ledgers glued to all the missing areas of the frame ...
an ah-ha moment to be sure.

let me just add ...
You'll need the patience of JOB
here.

tatter the paper, glue, sand, stain and let dry ....
this took two or more hours.

but worth all the fretting and stewing ...
wouldn't you say?

magically transformed ...
just call me Doc ...

ledger ledger on the wall
Tell me ... who is
 fairest of all?

please mosey on over to Lake Forest
next weekend
I will be showing 'piles' of these frames and mirrors, along with more finds
too many to mention.
"the reveal" is Friday morning at 10:00 am

hope to see you
at Romancing the Home
March 9-10

Brillian, and i am not surprised! I am a good friend of Cindy Y. She tells me so much about you and how wonderful you are. ;-) I love fixing old antique frames. I sort of 'rebuild' the broken molding with a product called Quickwood, it is a two part putty. You probably already know about it. I use it to fill knob holes in drawers too, way better than wood putty. Anyway, jus thought i would say hi!!

Blessings,

Michelle

Perfect! I know your client was over the moon with the fix. I'd love to try that, but not sure I'd have the patience.

I just picked up an old book called Mirror, Mirror, on the Wall. My plan was to sell it because it was such a cool color but I thumbed through a few pages and got hooked on the words. Just like I am hooked on this fabulous frame you created. Joy...it's just fantastic!!!! xo
