change doesn't set well with me ... but you already knew that
there's a big bad rumor google friend connect is going away ... last night as I dug deeper,
it sounds like it's going away to any blog that's not a google account ... i.e. wordpress, typepad ...
some of you out there have thousands
of followers, some just a few and have worked hard at it!
blogging is a full time job
if you want to grow it
and be known and followed.
SO
in the event that google
pulls the friend connect rug out from all of us,
I added a new venue ... linky follow ...
if you're so inclined you're welcome to join me there, too.
I believe we're in for a bumpy ride in the near future ...
a ride that will consist of major changes on the www ...
all out of our control.

Is it just me and my temper-mental ipad, or does the linky followers link not work?
I don't like the change either! I've been blogging since 2008. I only have 244 followers. My goal is to make it to 500 this year. On my post yesterday I advised readers about the GFC change & invited them to follow me on Facebook & Linky Followers.

I had to put the Linky Follow on mine too...I tell you, with Picnik closing, Google Friend Connect disappearing, I am just wondering what will be gone next. Many of us work so hard on our blogs, and design, and sidebars, meeting new people, traveling to blogs, and I would hate to lose anyone! Plus, it's like starting from scratch.
We are in the low 60's today - dreary, rainy and overcast! But, I sure do like the cool breeze blowing through.

They were going to do away with the OLD editor and I wrote them a long post about it and they didn't remove it. I like it much better because it's less glitchy and still use it.
You're right about them taking it away from non-Bloggers blogs, sweetpea. They can't keep writing the code it requires as it takes much more time to write codes for others. However, there is no indication they will take it away from blogger. I love blogger and will continue to use it. But I do understand their decision and the strife it is causing typepad and wordpress and private bloggers.

Because I am Typepad, after the big blogger booboo of 2010, I have added this same Linky Follow thing. I would love to have you come on over and Follow via that route.
I am trying to take care of bloggy business. J returned home from hospital, yesterday (two weeks here and there), so I am playing a little catch up as I rest up.:-) This Follow Linky business is just a part of my catch up.
I added the new Linky follower to my blog just in case too. Who knows what will happen next?!?! My blog got sucked into the black hole a few years ago and I lost everything! I decided not to change to another blogging format though because I felt like blogger was so easy to use. Have a great weekend!

I have been reading about this and got all upset then i realized I use blogger , however I added linky followers also to my blog.
When I get use to something I want to keep it that way.
I don't have near the followers you have but I want to keep them in eye site on my blog.
I just today added Follow me by email but don't know if it works, like to never figured out how to do it LOL it's for only when I do a new post ? I am thinking

I just don't understand what any of this means. I've seen others write about it. So if this thing goes away...I will lose track of all the blogs I follow or what??

I think there are still so many non-Blogger blogs out there that don't realize the full impact of the GFC widget and option being unavailable to them! You were smart to jump on the bandwagon when you did. I signed up to follow you on LF, BTW. I could have added you as a subscription in my Google Reader, but if GFC goes away for US down the road, I am still ahead of the game by having you in LF now.
It is unfortunate, but I doubt that non-Blogger blogs will ever match the number of followers that they currently have in GFC. I know that there are a lot of bloggers who are obsessed with the "number game," so this will drive them nuts!
I'm glad Brent came up with his follower system. It isn't as sophisticated as Google, but he can't possibly be expected to support RSS feeds at this time, if ever.
Just don't forget to update your latest posts. I'm seeing lots of my followed blogs forgetting to do this.

I've added Linky to my blog, even though I am on blogger. I just don't trust them. I think It is terrible to pull the rug out like that. We all work too hard.

I added the Linky Followers to my blog also. To tell you the truth I don't know if this is the answer or not. There are so many ways that people follow us - RSS feeds in a reader, Facebook, Twitter, Bloglovin, etc that I'm not sure that the whole GFC or Linky Followers means anything anymore. I really don't know that many people who actually reads blogs through GFC, it is more as a "look how many people love me" for the blog owner kind of thing. Anyhow, I thought I'd put the Linky Followers on my blog just in case people start using it to actually read blogs.
I am not a big fan of change either. I agree with Nana Diana. Anyways I added Linky just to see what happens. My stats went way up. I assume, and I know nothing about tech, that it is Linky testing it since it is in the beta phase. Either way, I am new follower.

It's so stupid. I hate change. Blogger needs to get with it. - GFC is really worthless besides that fact that it looks like a popularity contest. I mean I guess, when I have time that I how I find my favorite blogs. But if they had made it some sort of effective program where you could actually CONTACT your followers about stuff you have going on that would be cool. Like actually CONNECT - you know, since it's called Google Friend Connect!
