CHALK PAINT and THE WINDY CITY

it's a wee little bit of a let down
coming home to the burbs from high city life.

I'm tellin ya' ... it's a whole 'nuther world downtown Chicago.
subways, the "L", valet parking,  screaming sirens, drag racing minded cab drivers,
Bentley's and Maseratis, full length furs, and a Starbucks
literally on every corner ...

it is good to be home, but I'm whipped ...
and wondering what in the world to post.

with that said and thoughts of city life ... I thought I'd
show you a Paris Tramway sign I just reproduced
and
a chalk paint project ...
yes, I know some of you are chalked and painted to death ...
but seeing that this is my first ...
I'm geeked.

chalk paint before my stain

chalk painted edges and my developed stain

AFTER
my magic potion stain

ledgers and my magic gooe-ies

I'm taking orders for the tramway sign
at
stuffintheburbs ...

have a beautiful new week.

I live just 5 hours south of Chi Town and we go up there every once in a while and I love it...for a visit and shopping. I would also love to know where you got the paper or fabric on the top of the first picture of the desk.

Terry,
I bought the paper sheets in the scrapbooking aisles of Michaels ... go figure

I then add all my goo-ies to give the 100 year old paper look

Looks great Joy. Just the right amount of aging. I grew up in Chicago, practically lived downtown when I was in college, and love it. I can still get there in a flash from the burbs.

I have an old French letter that would be perfect on something like that. Photocopied, of course!

Great aging on that piece and I love the writing added to the top. Who is tired of chalk paint and paint projects? Not me.

Love both pieces! Is that paper with the script on top of the cabinet? I did a table with paper script on it recently and was wondering about staining on top of it. Is that what you did? It looks awesome! Thank you so much for sharing! Hugs, Leena

Love, love your projects. Not to worry I am behind the curve and just now experimenting with the chalkboard and chalk-paint projects!

I think it looks great. Big cities are so much fun to visit, but for me, it's always nice to get back home to the simple life :)
